One big disadvantage for me with a flip up is that in a crash the front would just come off. I think they are actually classed as open faced .
Have you considered AGV? I quite fancy this for myself but with Blue instead of Red http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AGV-S4-SV-Nake...item2306f5d221 Sorry, Dont know how to shorten links. Dave |

FWIW I have a Schuberth S1. The integral sunvisor is brilliant, but the S1 rated very poor on the SHARP ratings if they mean anything at all, there was a lot of debate whether the testing was done properly (head size/energy input etc), never heard the end of the dispute.
The build quality is pretty reasonable, comparable to Shoei/Arai in my experience. The write up by the White-Dalton blog put me off the C3 in a big way. On previous helmets without a sunvisor I've used the chavvy tint strip you get for car windscreens, only a few quid and big enough to make dozens of helmet strips, you can also get graduated ones (look on ebay) if you prefer. Experiment a bit with some masking tape to decide where you want the strip, you have to ride with it to do this, simply trying the helmet on while standing in your street won't give you the right answer. I like it above the normal sight-line so it's just a sunstrip, but you look through clear visor at the road. To be honest I've been perfectly happy with the strip across the top, just tilt your head down a bit if the sun is really bright. I'd quite happily go back to that arrangement, and for my next lid I'll be looking to go back to Shoei/Arai. Worth experimenting on your current helmet before deciding you must have the integral sunvisor.

...update...
I've just got a Shoei Qwest and so far it's great. Very light, very good ventilation, very good noise levels (and that's comparing to a Schuberth S1), build quality appears to be top rate. Just need to sort out a sun strip before I'm off on hols to Italy ... ![]() Got a very good discount from http://www.vcustoms.co.uk/ , excellent customer service. They are a relatively small outfit, but carry good quality brands and can get stuff in the next day if you order. They got me some gloves (needed non-stocked size) and posted FOC, they said phone with card details when I received the gloves.
