LOL @ Fenjer! I'm not totally obsessed with it being shiny....(that's a lie, I am).

I generally clean mine once a set of days off in the summer. In the winter however, I just ACF50'd it and left it, other than giving it a rinse down with cold water whenever I used it to keep salt away from brakes and such like.

I cleaned mine properly the other day to get rid of all the ACF50 and winter gunk and MAAAAAAN! It took forever!

I spent ages removing all of the gunk and scottoil off it using a toothbrush and a rag soaked in paraffin - run out of WD40 or this would have been my choice! Then I hosed it down with cold water before washing it with a microfibre cloth, hot water and Autoglym soap. Before I hosed it though, I used a soft cloth and some furniture polish to remove the bug splatter from the front. Once I had finished that, I rinsed it off in fresh water before drying it off. Resulting in much shiny-ness for Shiny Shiny! I had run out of polish so it's needing that done but will do it on my days off.

You were probably better off with paraffin for that job TBH, it's cheaper, and it's a better degreaser. WD40 is good to wipe down with a cloth to get certain bits completely clean and shiny when you have finished washing it. Try an old paintbrush though, it holds more paraffin, gets into nooks and crannies better than a cloth, and doesn't get caught on stuff. Keep the tooth brush for the really small or difficult bits that need scrubbed.

Yeh Ralph, I only use the toothbrush on the hard to reach bits and the REALLY minging bits!!!

clean it after every ride..this way u can see if everything nice and tight or anything missing,never wash it,just use wd-40 and mr sheen does the trick

Shiny shiny

Being a reborn newbie, had my SV for about 3 weeks, I gave it a spray over with Muc Off, then difficult bits like rear wheel with wd40 and an old cloth, then a good hose off with cold water and wipe down with a microfibre cloth.
Finally I use Showroom Shine that I bought off Ideal World! Yea, ok, I like to watch those guys! They work so hard as selling the product I have to buy it! lol! Have to say it is such a powerful cleaner with a microfibre cloth. Then a simple buff up with a clean microfibre cloth!
i have to say after its first intensive clean by me that it looks better than when I picked it up from the dealer, 2nd hand I must add.
