Sportsmarts if your needing something with a bit of damp/ wet grip

+1 Got some scrubs on at the moment. Brilliant compared to my Bt021s
Done about 1200 miles on mine and there's not much tread left on the rear, probably another 300-400 miles. That's being careful on the straights and attack mode on the corners.

I think it is massively more obvious depending on forks. Yours feel relatively soft in initial comp.

On stock SV forks viper sport front feels alright.

I must have missed most of this ridding prowess , not had anything but sports touring rubber for about 10 year*, and never found it wantings, I expect and get at least 8k from a rear and recently nearer 10k.

I guess us old cripples can't hope to reach the same standards anymore.....

I destroyed a pair of these in 2000 miles on my Versys, they don't last.

Absolutely agree.

99% of the riders here couldn't take a decent sports touring tyre to its limit, let alone a pair of stickies.

Save your money, buy another pair of Storms.

Fair points rictus and lozzo, but if a sportier tyre makes someone more comfortable and feel better about riding the bike I say go for them

Harsh words!

I'd have slicks if i could Just for the sex of it!! Who gives two wotsits whether or not i'd ever take them to 'its limit'....get something sticky if you want something sticky

Just make sure you remember to pay for it

EDIT* PS. +1 SportSmarts i love them in dry/wet

indeed "bling" and "Tart" factors both play a part for some, as does the matching outfit and what not, if you do the average of 3-3.5k miles a year I guess in hobby terms it's not such an expense, personally I'd be gutted to kill a decent sports tyre just on general use even if they lasted more than half the life of a sports tourer, and anyone doing more than hobby miles each year; IMO it's financial madness to throw that sort of money away, but then I guess you can waste it anyway you want.

Sense, maturity, experience call it what you will I go through 4 or 5 rears and a 2-3 fronts each year and get good mileage in all weathers.

Cheer Mark

I'm no riding god, but I've found the limits of the storms occasionally. On supercorsas on the road I don't think I'm actually any faster, but it's a nice extra bit of confidence when in that 1% banzai mode.
Hence why I have 2 sets of wheels...

Other than that I agree. I'm happy to make fair progress on the storms, it's not the 80's where all the tyres were like bakelite.

Oh and supercorsas are pretty cheap as scrubs so if you're skint they're worth a look.
