OH rite 6.6 is your route your doing at teh moment, that it nothign to do with this ride your suggesting. Sorry my bad flower pot I thougth you were suggesting that your route at Dolby was only 6.6 - no problem lets crank it up. (plus one on the d+b track too - mega).
That video is downhill Andy, This invite isnt for anything like that, first off you wont be needing a full face helmet - a pair of sun glasses is about the only protection you'll need. When you thinking of Paulo? |

![]() Erm, well dalby forest routes sound to have mixed reviews with some people saying the blue-yellow route is too boring or not challenging enough, or on the flipside that it's a great introduction to proper off road MTB riding if you've never done it properly before = sounds like it could be a happy medium for noobs like me & andy, but for the more advanced owenski's to show us how it's done on the more technical bits. A fairly long ish ride at 2-3 hours with a picnic break in the middle might be good? Not quite sure how these things work? Would the blue route take 2-3 hours? Would it be worth sticking a bit of a snack stop in the middle of it? Are there sections where you can stop for 3 mins to have a drink and catch your breath if you've been caning it? Then as for the social bit in the evening, bbq, beer, camping would be a great finish to the day's riding. Looking for something fast paced, technical and challenging (fun), than based on long distance up hill riding with fitness in mind (not fun)... Would the lakes be better suited to this sort of stuff d'ya think? Any ideas, throw them in the pot ![]()

When camping and riding, find the riding you want and head there cos camping will be available near by regardless of which area you choose. If you wanna do dolby then do dolby, there are loads of routes there with plenty of crossing points so if you set off on the blue and its boring, take the next red exit and detour onto that etc.
All cross country routes usually loop so dont worry about getting back to the car for some snacks etc. I'd ride with a camelpack for water and have a couple of cerial bars etc in there along with puncture crap. You'll be able to pull over and stop etc where ever you please. Use a TEC style riding formation and you should remain as a group - quickly able to collect anyone who's binned it. A word to the wise though, if you want flatish riding then dont go to a area with hills BUT IMO FLAT IS BORING! You need to go up to go down and its the downhill bits which can be awsome. You hear me coming through speakers, see me flying up your airwaves - I know you cant get enough of my sound. BO! |

I'll only be on a fairly entry level hardtail (specialized hardrock sport with cable discs) but will happily try anything upto the point where I'm wondering whether bones may get broken. Helmet, gloves and some kind of eyewear will be all I'm packing (apart from gallons of water and a puncture repair kit/maybe spare inner tubes).. Anyone else reading through & interested or just us 3?

YC May be up for it, Im fairly sure he trails every now and then - can do it as a belated birthday for me / headwetting for Nathaniel.
Dont worry about your Rockhopper paul, they're quite nice bikes - especially compeared to my GT. Which is proper old school, bought it back in 2001 for my paper round... old school I tell ya! ![]() It looked like this when I got it - apart from I popped a set of RST forks on there. |
