Rough timetable was: last spring, see 40 looming on the calender. Smile lovingly at Wifey who gets me CBT and some lessons for birthday. Do CBT, do some lessons, get NSR125, pass Theory test, hit 40, take Mod 1 and fail, nearly breaking leg & ankles in the process, further damage ankle at Goodwood Vintage Festival, spend best 3 months of the year unable to ride, retake Mod 1 and pass, take Mod 2 and pass. Decide in the spring that the 125 is not man enough to take the kids pillion for more than a mile or two. Do a bit of research, hit on SV as an idea. Wife buys Ducati Monster and I see blue 2002 Curvy the following day. Smitten, buy it (cost me less than 900 squids once I'd traded in the NSR). Not as noisy as the Monster but comfortably quicker. And that gets you up until about 3 weeks ago!!

Wow, needs an introduction along the lines of 'DJFridge, This Is Your Life' lol! Quite a story though! Mines much more boring although similar situation. Did CBT, got cbr125. 6 months later, bored. Did DAS and bought SV650 because of insurance etc unknowingly fell in love with it and what not

I was surprised how reasonable the insurance was too - very little more than the NSR. Not surprised you got bored with the CBR125 - at least the NSR had a bit of two stroke character (no power but plenty of character). I looked at the CBR and my first thought was, "Why is the rear wheel so titchy?" It's the same size as the front on the NSR! I read a review of the new CBR125 last night actually - still wouldn't want one but it looks a bit more grown up again.

I thought i was going to hang on to my CBR125 for a bit longer and hence didnt want a 2 stroke as the engine rebuilds put me off lol. But yh it was a bit slow and everything but only really used it as a commuter. At the time £8 to fill and would go on forever, couldn't really complain
