Sorry to hear about your crash; the main thing is that you're okay!

What happened? I had a 50/60mph off in April where the bike ended up going nose first in to a ditch, I too feared for the worst but as it turned out it just needed an entire new front end (sounds bad yes, but my point is it might not be a no hoper...). Assuming your SV has the standard 'right-way-up' forks and that it was a frontal impact, the forks will most likely have taken most of the impact force and bent under the bottom yoke, hopefully reducing the chance of any frame damage.

It just scares me people can't see a motorcyle with it's headlight on riding near the crown of the road

Good luck with the fracture clinic mate and if you run out of Tremadol I got 200 lets say £3 a pill.lol
