Ha, ha, wonder if this thread is actually just a trolling exercise for the Autoglym brigade. Anyway, if it's not then ignore the dissenters, if you decided it was a bike not an ornament, and you just rode it and never bothered cleaning it, that was up to you. Yes, you are left with a rusty heap that's worth nothing, but again your choice, you must have looked at it one day before now and realised it was getting a bit rusty. I wouldn't leave a bike to decay myself, but well done for not being a sheep! And welcome to the forum

Perhaps not what you wanted to hear. Seriously though you don't actually believe it has any real value in that condition. Shame really but you don't need any technical knowledge to carry out basic cleaning.

I did post earlier and my post was somewhat negative. I thought your opening post was some sort of joke and thought it was quite funny but also a little sad looking at the state of your bike.

I kind of hope you can bring it back into something approaching good condition, but as it is, seriously I would say as it is it has zero value at all.

I'm sure others will be along to offer advice, the guys and girls on here are a very friendly and helpful bunch. Good luck with your bike.

for something that's supposed to look like this

that's a very neglected bike, for the forks a scotchbrite pad (but as said stay away from the working area), the exhaust can; give it a good scrape with a screwdriver or something, if and it's a big if, it's solid under the rust, wire brush, paint with krustrust (get it from halfords) and then heatproof exhaust paint likewise with the exhaust guard, the subframe, pillion peg haggers and sump guard scotchbrite pad down, krustrust them paint, the brightwork autosolve and elbow grease.

don't forget to allow the krustrust to fully dry before putting paint over the top of it.

Finially cover everything barring saddle, tyres, brakes, footpegs/hand grips and controls with ACF50, and it just might be worth a couple of bob.

Cheers Mark.

It's worth something to somebody as a mode of transport, but that's all. If you want value out of it I suggest you keep it and ride it. When your riding it you don't have to look at it. If you want somebody else to get value out of it, I suggest you give to them and let them ride it. But monetary value? Were you really expecting much?

and we thought YC's bike never saw autoglym and a bucket.

Righto the stantions, a scotchbrite should take the worst off (as Rictus said avoid the travel area of the forks)
Subframe- Take the plastics off the rear, gear a wire brush and remove the worst of the rust and paint with a decent metal primer and repaint.

Exhaust- is done for, the Yamaha 125 exhausts are notorious for doing that, it may disintergrate if you touch it.

Once done- A good wash and most a can of ACF50 on the bike
