Telephone Preference Service. We never get calls like that.

I keep my home phone unplugged normally, I have found this is the best way to prevent getting these calls.

Answering machine and screen your calls, sales people hate answering machines as it answers the call but doesn't let them through they never leave a message lol

My favourite is to tell them they got the wrong number. And if they insist ... I keep telling them they got the wrong number. Sometime I ask for their personal details and home telephone number and to those very persistent who seem to take it very seriously, I kindly advise them towards a less pathetic career. Other times I explain them how rich I am and that I don't mind wasting money ... this always seem to confuse them as they don't have an answer on the script.

I just keep saying hello...hello.....hello in stranger and stranger voices a mister bean type voice works well.

Also you get wait untill they get into their speal and then just leave the handset while they are still talking and go and do something else.

Third option is airhorn down the phone which is quite effective

im going through this at the moment and the company i have talked to have not asked for cash up front,so i thaught why not as my credit card company had charged extortionate charges even when i was in financial dificulties. so any cash of remaining balance would be a god send, but if they had asked for cash up front i wouldnt have even considered keep away!!

There is always the DIY option, which I personally did a few years ago to reclaim all the £'s those robbing shytehawkes at the Clydesdale Bank stung me for whilst I was a student.

Clydesdale Bank are appalling. They have hammered my brother with charges to the extent he was in debt purely with charges. It's all fixed now but they were very difficult to deal with, it was like they wanted to make everything as awkward as possible for him!
