You are not obliged to remove your helmet unless it says on the notice next to the pump.

The above one means you wouldn't have to.
Have had this out with Tesco's (and I am not the only one around here), I never take mine off unless I've got to que for fuel.
Shell are not concerned if your wearing a lid.

Its like them refusing to allowing you to refuel while sitting on the bike. There is no inherent fire risk in doing this, but the regs that will be quoted are out of date, after the Fire research proved there was little risk

now that I disagree with, I've seen bikes at the track go up in flames after fuel came pi$$ing over the top of the tank onto a hot exhaust pipe.

Helmets I have no problem with fuelling whilst sitting on the bike has an obvious risk associated.

Thats were its jerry can decanting I'm guessing Flymo.
I was referring to static only, which seems to be what is always trotted out

I agree that static is cobblers, but my example was more to show that there is a real fire risk from spilt fuel. Filling while sitting is more awkward than standing next to the bike and could leave you as a fireball should the worst happen. Jerry cans at the track are irrelevant.

A requirement to stand whilst filling the bike is a perfectly sensible safety precaution in my opinion.

Have only ever been forced to take my helmet off at a Morrisons in Preston. All other morrisons have been fine with it.

My local Sainsburys used to have a no helmet sticker on the cashiers counter, buy no one ever took any notice of it. When they refurbed recently they didn't even move the screens but that sticker mysteriously disappeared (and only that one). Guess they realised that no one was taking any notice of it.

With regard to cinemas--- Dear sir,I handed my helmet in as requested and on its return found it had scratch damage, and chipped as if it had been dropped while in your custody. As it unsafe to wear a damaged helmet I present you with the bill for its replacement.

How long do you think the cinema industry will pay for £3-400 helmets?

Petrol stations
I just leave the nozzle lying on the ground and let them keep their petrol.
Childish but it gives me some sense of satisfaction knowing I am being just as awkward as them

A fellow organ I was with was once not allowed to fuel up without paying first! He wasn't a happy bunny.

I've never been asked to remove my helmet at a petrol station.

If 'I' have a reason to take it off, then thats my perogative, i won't remove it at someone elses request.
