Default Re: Putting Curvy away - what to do?

Please re read I repeat IF IT IS declared SORN then it does not need either tax, MOt or insurance. if it is not declared then it does need to be taxed and Insured even off road I know i have several all kept off road since the system started and two since the sytem changed 20 JUNE 2011, Hence why I also posted the link to the official DVLA site.
If i may remind you of your post
Legal requirement needs to be insured and SORN'ed or taxed now This statement is wrong
It is not insured and sorn it is sorn or insured and taxed Thank you

I need my *******ing eyes tested again!

Stand corrected!
But there is the practical issues also which Owenski has stated. I couldn't SORN my bike and cancel the insurance for that period as the risk is to great, my area is a bunch of pikeys and most the bike around here are anchored and chained down

Nowhere to keep it

It's gonna be put up til April/early May in my garage. Had it on Optimate all last winter but had a lot of problems at the start of summer as my carbs were gummed up and fooked.

From reading the advice I'll just brim the tank, drain carbs, stick it on the paddock stand in my garage and stick the optimate in, as it won't be switched on 24/7 anyway.

Cheers!

This interweb is a fine device and we are all guilty of typing quicker than we think sometime Andrew all we can do is try to pass on what is true and correct information.
To carry on the original thread please do not forget your brakes. push back the cylinders in to the calipers they will probably come back out over time but also occassionally turn your wheels to prevent the discs and bearings sitting in the same place. i would reccomend at least once a month over the lay up period appyling the brakes 10- 12 times whilst turning wheels just to keep the seals moving in the Master cylinder then again push back the clinders. Time consuming but not as bad as finding that your brake calipers are siezed, the discs marked from rusted padsand the seals in the master cylinders goosed.

My dad used to get it out in the drive and running every 2 weeks or so last winter so I'll ask him to do the same again, but not start the engine.

Come next summer, it'll be having new front pads (just had new rear and brake fluid), new coolant, new oil and filters all round.

Does that sound good for a summer refresh?
