My hart really sinks like a stone when I hear this sort on thing. A true hero who died doing what he loved doing. So sad.

I stand to be corrected though.

There was no report of any ejection yet.

The Hawks used by the Reds are 2 seaters. When transitting between destinations the 2nd seat is taken up by an engineer. That way should there be any technical problems there are a variety of different trade engineers available to locate and repair the fault.

When the jets fly at displays there is only the pilot and the 2nd seat stays empty. Only on rare occasions will there be a "passenger".

Saw him doing a display only a week or so ago. Very sad news!

RIP Eggman. Very sad. Also very sad that his wife was watching the display at the time of the crash.

It's really sad, I remember first seeing the Red Arrows at Silverstone before a British Car Grand Prix.

It was then and probably still is the most stunning, spectacular thing I've ever seen. The pilots are so talented and dedicated, modest and self effacing, just brilliant examples of the human race. RIP.
