Apparently they changed their design... de-aids it and let me try

Need to find a stockist so I can try one

Which considering you are just a summer rider, fits perfectly with your needs

And I'm sure that YOU would find that an open faced lid would be even better for the cagers at the lights :P

Craft lids are legal it's the old simpson lids that didn't conform as they were meant for use in cars AFAIK.

There was a technicality in the writing of the helmet law which allowed the wearing of Simpson helmets. Basically as we in the UK had our own British Standards Institute kitemark as our helmet standard that meant any visiting riders from abroad would be breaking the law if they used their own helmets when visiting Britain, so we allowed the use of a helmet that "equalled or surpassed BS whateveritwas" - unfortunately for the people who wrote the law they didn't limit this sidestep of the law to just riders visiting from abroad, they left it open to all helmet users in this country. As Simpson helmets passed Snell Foundation standards they were deemed in one noteable and precedent setting court case as safer than a BS tested helmet and so were ok for road use in Britain.

I had a long and protracted 'discussion' with a copper at Chelsea Bridge in my youth, when I turned up there on my tricked up JPS 350LC with a custom painted Simpson RX1 Bandit. Needless to say I rode home with a HORT2 producer after having 5 or 6 traffic cops crawling all over my bike trying to find a fault they could nick me for... and failing, but I didn't get nicked for the helmet.

Me on the bike and the helmet before I got it painted to match:

Yes those are Astralite wheels, just don't ask how much they cost me at the time.
