So sad Miss YC, I really hope they can get through this difficult time.

You'd think that in this day and age these things don't happen anymore - miracles of modern medicine, etc, etc. Sadly I only became aware of quite how common losing a LO is through the heartbreaking experiences of some close friends/colleagues...

My Mother lost five babies, the first of which was still born the year before I was born. That was 1972 and the Doctor who dealt with it was callous and cold, leaving my mother heart broken. My mother grieved for thirty years for the lost childen and sadly the damage it did to her was great. It is strange to think that I am one of eight, but saddest of all is to hear my Mother still blaming herself for losing those babies. What made it better for her was when my first niece was born, knowing that some of her children could have babies. My brother has two daughters and my sister has one. My Mother dotes on all of her grandchildren and I think that in a way this has healed, her seeing them growing so fast and so healthy.

To your friend Miss YC and to the other couples who have lost children, I can send only my deepest sympathy and hope that your hearts can heal like my Mothers finally did. I was never able to have children and now never will, but my nieces Robyn, Charlotte and Bella fill my heart with more love than I knew I could have.

Rest peacefully little child.
