Idle Banter For non SV and non bike related chat (and the odd bit of humour - but if any post isn't suitable it'll get deleted real quick).![]() |

When I see them, sometimes something in the title will get the better of my curiosity and I will take a look. When there I will pay my respects, but then that's it.
As much as it can be an annoyance, these threads are sometimes useful. We lost a new member of the Org last year and we would never have found out unless one of those threads had been posted. For those of us that met that member or spoke with him on here, it was good to a/ know that he had passed and therefore be able to send wishes to his family and, b/ have the chance to pay our own respects. So, whilst I am not a massive fan of these threads and understand the OP...I am also glad that they are posted sometimes in order that I can pay my respects. I guess for me it comes down to, if I want to read them I will and if I don't I won't. But that's just me. |

GG, I think they're referring to posting links to a news site saying someone none of us knows has died. As SK says, it's not orgers 99%of the time, it's just (in his words) 'random blokes'.
If someone on here has an accident then absolutely there should be a post so we be aware and post our best wishes. |

They may be annoying but the link to Spidermans post says it all. If we spend our time being annoyed by little things, it won't make for a very happy life. We can't control what others post....but we can control our reactions to those posts. If you don't want to look, don't look. That's not to say I don't sometimes wish there were a few less pointless threads, but it is idle banter, so kind of has to be expected. I just won't waste my energy getting annoyed by them. |

I agree with SK. I prefer to live in ignorance to the number of bikers killed. If anything the press seem to salivate over it, in my eyes. It's like every single biker/cyclist death makes the news but nothing about being killed in your car unless it's a 30 car pile up.
However at the same time maybe it does keep me on my toes on the road. But then I think I'm aware of that anyway. I do find it interesting the amount of response from the org to these strangers dying. I felt a connection when Simoncelli died because I was an avid fan of motogp, however when it's a stranger I don't feel compelled to comment even though I can have empathy for the family. I'm a cold hearted bugger. |

Nope, I've stopped looking at threads like RIP biker person, as its not as if I care about someone I haven't met. Sounds harsh, but I'd be more concerned if it was one of us lot, and it would likely to be titled so.
Sometimes people who post these things are un-hinged doom mongers looking to get attention for pretending to care so much for unknown people. Bugger orf and get a life instead of scouring news articles for some poor unknown sods grief.
