Of the four Japanese manufacturers I'd say they are all pretty much the same. BMW reliability is famously shocking, as is Triumph's nowadays. Hard to judge Ducati reliability, they never get used.

My engine rebuild was done using the chewie kit although there were still a few bolts i had to replace myself that werent part of it. Ive got the 'rest of the bike' kit as well to do during the winter.

Ive always wondered how feedback from suzuki mechanics about the bolts hasnt changed anything. They must get extremely hacked off with the amount of time wasted dealing with stubborn bolts.

For reliability I'd agree. For build quality, that's something different Honda and Yamaha are way ahead of Suzuki and Kawasaki there.

All completely true.

My personal ownnership experience reliability has been best with Kawasakis - but I've owned more of those than the other Japanese makes, so it's hardly objective.

As for worst, Yamaha by a long way, but with same proviso as above, I've not owned of many them so my experince of them may not be truly representative.

Good experience= owned more
Worst experience= owned less
a trend perhaps
I've had lots of Hondas, a fair few Suzukis a few Yamahas, 2 Benellis and only 1 Kawasaki. The Benellis were huge fun when they ran. Even after 25= years a poor overall experience clouds my judgement.

A generalisation but it is all down to maintenance and care of the product.Yes,I like Honda but I have had very little trouble with my Triumph and in any manufacturer you can find good and bad within the same model.
Recently I thought about changing my bike for a Honda but when I went and looked at what was available in my price range I was astonished at the condition of some 2-3year old bikes,my ten year old Trumph was in better condition but is that because I look after it and the others neglected.
Build quality and materials used seem to have taken a down turn since 10 years ago
in my opinion and construction techniques become more complex, going hand in hand with our disposable society so perhaps the manufacturers have cottoned on to this and deliberately build to these levels knowing the consequence being we will buy more often
