Regarding the original post, i fully understand and am +1 million on the owning of an actual tangible book. It's half the experience, no matter what the content.

Ive never got past the first chapter whenever ive tried to read an ebook. They look at me as though im mad, but I tell my kids "books are friends". Im sure they'll get it one day, hopefully before paper books become extinct!!

Got to say I'm glad that most of the posts so far are in favour of real books.

I'm dreading the day when publishers follow music labels and only sell downloads..... Progress isn't always a good thing!

it will be inevitable its just we don't have the electronic device that gives the right user experience and additional functionality. You cant stop progress I'm afraid..but you do have choice

I've a great many books, plenty over 100 years old, you can't replace the pleasure it gives handling and reading them with a gadget.

Getting a Kindle is like buying a motorbike racing x-box game instead of doing a trackday

+1 yes! Tech is great it means I can stay in touch ect, adds an interesting aspect to work or not if your a douche. I don't know about other people but I find sat with a book or tech book in my hands is easier to read as already said adds more pleasure to the experince.

he is a true man.

buys something for your birthday he knows you won't want

so he can have it for himself. then pretend he is grumpy.

he then receives sympathy and attention while having a kindle.

time to buy the GF a new xbox game for christmas

+1,000,000,000,000,000

There is nothing better than reading a paper book, the sensation is part of the experience.
I can't get away with the e-readers or Ipads etc... (Yes technically brilliant, but lack something that puts me off)
