Should've changed lane and given it a wide girth then! Your fault for being too close.

I'm a bit tired of people trying to pin the blame on anyone but themselves.

I know there are a lot of fools out there that don't take responsibility, but I was about half a mile behind the truck when it happened (and over the brow of a hill so it wasn't even in sight). The stones it swept into the road don't stay there for 5 car lengths then make their own way back onto the verge. They stay there until someone drives over them and flicks them either onto the verge or onto the windscreen of someone driving behind them. And before you say it, I was a good distance behind the car in front. Stones bounce for a long time when flicked up at 70mph.

So no, 100% not my fault. 100% ineffective road sweepers fault. Hope that clears it up for you!

Ok then, so just one of those things I guess. No-ones fault. No-one to blame.

And no-one to claim compensation from, it seems.

It happens, I think Forest Gump said!

Yeah. I'm gonna suck it up! .... unless the insurance company will pay for it as part of an autoglass fix. Fingers crossed. I'll phone them tomorrow.

Christ, some people want it every way.

Road sweeper flicks a few stones into the road whilst cleaning thousands from it... big deal, live with it. No doubt you'd be the first to complain if they didn't sweep the roads at all and left stones all over them.

It's never your fault, but sometimes it's just no-one's fault and that's just the way life is. Why does there have to be someone to blame or claim from?

What he says, sometimes it is just nobody's fault. Still bloomin' annoying

I get where you're coming from, but he's sweeping the gutter (not the middle!) of the fast lane of an A road dual carriageway, in the middle of nowhere. Never in my life have I seen a road sweeper sweeping the gutter off the fast lane of a road like this ....

Anyway, I've calmed down now!

It's cos there are so many demands and no money. Where I work everything is measured in £££.

As to the question... no idea

It's ok fallout I understand mate. We're all skint & then shiiit happens where it never would have back in the good old days when everyone had money. My screen got chipped the other day after the van had been off the road for a month & then a £380 bill to get it through MOT *after xmas*. Still pizzed off about it.

If its just a chip then you should be able to get a resin fill repair type thing - even if your insurance doesn't cover it I can't imagine it'll be £hundreds to get sorted.

as for the council, send them lots of letters opposing extended opening hours for the local shop or objecting to proposals for a new barn to be built on a farm 20 miles from your house even easier than that, send blue pete a rickroll link disguised as an interesting article - you'll soon feel much better.

Paul, you're not wrong mate. We're all feeling the pinch. It's been relentless here recently, especially with cars.

I don't actually hate the council though. I'll give the planning permission complaints a miss. I concluded last night that they were probably road sweeping the gutter of the dual carriageway to pick up the litter at the side of the road. It's probably too dangerous to put a man on a central reservation without a barrier, picking up the litter by hand, so this is probably the only way. Still, their chosen method chipped the windscreen on a car I've had for a week.

Is it too early for a magners?
