Well I have had an SV had [have] a Triumph Kawasaki,Honda and don't fancy a KTM.
I am looking more for comfort so all lean forward crouch position bikes are out and most cruisers are far to heavy.
Problem -my knees lock up and I have a job to get my foot down quick enough,or it gives way holding the weight of the bike that's why I want something about or less than 150kgs wet weight and it MUST have protection against the elephants

The Sprint with full panniers and fuel[21.5lts]weighs in at about 250kgs

maybe it's time for a trike DT. ok so you cant filter and they don't go round corners to well but it's still basically like riding a bike and the big plus is you don't have to put your feet down.

Give the triumph a look as mentioned. It's probably a bit quick, but it's brilliant, feels lightweight and controls are easy. Plenty of go to get out of any town trouble.

You like your touring so I say Deauville.

I reckon it would feel half the size of your ST. Narrower tyres so should feel nimbler therefore easier. Quality motosickle.

Outsiders, BMW F twins or g650gs thumper.

My problem with supascoots is wheel sizes (stability and potholes) and pretty hairy in crosswinds too.

Dt. I know whatyou saying about weight but have a go on my hd next time your about. its so low you could probably prop it up on your elbow. Vstrom is nice but maybe a bit tall if your worried about getting your foot down.

So it's not necessarily weight that's the problem, it's a low centre of gravity and leg position. It actually shouldn't matter (within reason) how heavy the bike is, only how much of that weight has to be taken by your legs when going on and off the side stand.

I'm assuming seat / leg swing height would be an issue too, so the likes of the Kawasaki Versys and the Aprilia Shiver are out?

As Balky says, would a cruiser be of interest at all?

Otherwise the only thing I can think of is a maxi scoot, or a naked commuter like a CB500

Would a classic bike be of interest? There was a bigger choice of smaller capacity bikes in the 70's and 80's, i.e. I'm thinking Honda CB400/4, Suzuki X7, etc.
