Yeah, I don't believe it either, but if K&N says it improves power the insurance company will believe it. I don't need more power that's for sure, but being washable and reusable would be good because they are £40 quid and a normal filter is £30, saves me £20 on my next service and £30 each time after that.

I told mine that the GSXR has one fitted, it made no difference to the premium.

I like to declare everything, so that if the worst happens I am no fretting because I didn't declare things that might effect my insurance claim.

I'm with ebike and as long as it doesnt give more than a 3% power gain IIRC they arent to worried about it.

Let's be honest, it's all crap anyway, in the event of a claim, all they have to do is replace any damaged parts with standard, that's it, simple.

Doing this would stop all the grey area over mods, even if you got 10hp from a mod, which is unlikely with normal mods, its still less than 10% of the bikes power, which doesn't make a slow bike really fast now does it? It's already quick.

Just another thing for them to use to wriggle out of a claim.

Even then I think you just pay the difference what the policy would've been, I don't think they can not insure you.

My friend went up the back of someone a few months back and hadn't told them of his extra 6 points he'd picked up, they refused to pay until a solicitor got involved, he just had to pay the extra his premium would've been had he declared all of his 9 points.

Like to see that claim proven on the dyno

Simple answer = If your insurance add £31 pounds or more to your annual insurance cost then it's not worth it. If they charge you £29 or less (hopefully £0) then eventually it'll be worth it for you as they last for a million years.

I would enquire, as my last insurer was VERY particular about what i could/couldn't have. examples of what i couldn't have were k & n air or oil filters, or anything chrome or carbon. needless to say i am now with another company

I am also with ebike. When i changed my sv650 from an N to an S they wanted an extra £130.00. £70 then covered a Power Commander, Top Box, change of Screen, air filter, tail tidy, change of inidcators etc.
The power commander was the only reason they wanted the extra, the rest is free to add on

Ralph

In the event of an accident the insurer would have to prove the filter was significant to the cause of the accident.

If the bike is stolen then it wouldn't be an issue unless recovered and they may charge for a standard filter to be added but highly unlikely. That said, I'd declare it next renewal as you might get hit with a big admin charge just for updatinig your details.
