Work got me a set of Emtec Noisebreakers which are custom moulded. They are great for general use but big for a bike helmet. They will adapt them for the bike if you tell them though, they are vented too so no pressure build up! Have a look at www.noisebreaker.com!

they take a moulding of your ear to make the plugs from.
the plugs do go into the ear canal but not as far as the foam ones and dont need to as they sit flush with the outside of the ear itself.
Hard to explain but they sort of hook into place rather than expand and grip.

Ah I had heard of them before, not too far from me either so when I get chance I'll check them out. They seem a reasonable price and can be cleaned. Thx guys.

Click on the link above, it will explain things more clearly than most of us will!

There's a company in the states that does a kit a fraction of the cost that they cost over here, ear fuse or something it's called.

Try some Xmas tree style earplugs, these work for me, they stay in, they block more noise and are quick to use, foam plugs are none of the above.

I don't want all the noise blocked or most of it, just the part that casue hearing damage and triedness. Anything custom made is just going to better. Once I have sorted it out, then I'll let y'll how they work out. Might not be for a while, I don't ride much atm.

Earplugs don't do that, all they do is reduce decibel level.

These are the ones I have. I wouldn't say the ones I have are too big for a helmet, you just need to make sure you have them fitted properly. Sounds daft but they gave us a tutorial atwork of how to correctly put them in and around your ear, otherwise there is a little part that isn't poked in yer flaps and it feels uncomfortable in or out of a helmet.

Any squaddies on here get the moulded ones for Afghanistan? I still have mine somewhere but no idea if they are any good or who made them. I might dig them out and see if they work. Knowing the kit you get issued they'll be complete turd.
