I found the best option when I got a mount for my old pointy was the stem from ram mounts - you cut the rubber plugger thingy to exactly the right size. My pointy fell just in between two sizes. One was too big, The other too small.
I also had to buy a gsxr 1000 yoke nut from a dealer. The nut alone was £27!!!! Crazy.

i'm making one up that fits between the mirror mounts and sits inside the screen above the clocks. it will be a bar that has a plate to take RAM accessory's, looking at end of February though. at the moment i just stick a sucker to the rev counter

Talking Re: Pointy Stem Size?

Just ordered my phone holder / sat nav, same one for Samsung S2.

Here

I am going to be making a bracket up to use the pinch bolt on the top yoke at the left hand side. Think i will use a threaded bar and nut to pinch yoke and then be able to bolt / unbolt bracket when not required. Will see once made up.

I feel this would be the best position for me. High enough to see over a tank bag and low enough to still see the clocks. So the screen is in the same position as the ignition key but on the left.

O.K will definitely do. I was almost ordering the stuff online, but still don't know the size.

Got a dumb question.......I'm looking in the Haynes Manual and I'm not totally clear. Is the stem nut actually holding anything in place?

No not really your yoke nut will prob look like this but without the hole.

You'll need a yoke nut with the hole in it so that the RAM can slot through it and bolt on if i'm not mistaken.
They can be bought on ebay for not to much monies.
