If it is saying primary master none then the bios is not seeing the hard drive. Have a look for an option that says 'Load bios defaults' hit yes. then select save and exit. It should reboot. Hopefully it will find the hard drive. If not then maybe the hard drive has failed. There is a section in the bios to manually setup a hard drive but you shouldn't have to go near that, it should all be set to auto.

Hindle, cheers for that. I've got one last option to try and then i may be bringing the laptop to you
 Chris - cheers; i've tried that - in the bios setup menu it was F9 if i remember correctly. the manual setup hard drive is set to auto and iirc it cant be changed |
