I used to ride between London and Cardiff every other weekend along the M4 on my SV1000S on 2CTs and they haven't squared off.

What tyres you using?

(Now old) Power 2 on front and Pure on the rear. 2:1 ratio rear:front so both due a change by October'ish. I'm sure its the mileage and speed. The tread is down to what it should be (very little) for the distance and speed. My understanding is that squaring comes from being a little bit aggressive. There are very few real bends on that stretch up the M4 to Bristol.

"Squaring" comes from the centre of the tyre being worn more than the edges. It can be through excess heat (low pressure/high pressure) or wear.

But, if they are old it might explain a lot as a thinner carcuss can not disperse heat as well, so, older tyres wear faster
