I would guess it's because there is more rubber against tarmac while leant over? I don't know why, but I know it does because I noticed it when I changed from 60 to 70 and I changed nothing else, except the front height was lifted the little difference there is in height, but lifting the front shouldn't give more stability, just a bit more lazy steering and a few kg/lb went from the front to the rear.

Nope, it's not that. It's more due to have a steeper profile, it makes your steering faster if anything, the bike tips in easier and stays there.

Ok, so it's a guess. The weaknesses of the stock suspension are not altered at all by changing the front tyre geometry. It may feel slightly different and offer more grip due to an increased contact patch when leaned over.

It will tip in slightly faster due to the steeper profile, but it will also alter the speedo accuracy and effect the overall geometry of the bike if it has a taller profile.

But one thing is for sure, it isn't going to provide any miracle suspension cure.

Hagon is one way.
Between those 2 go nitron, no question.

Ta flymo, that's what I was after... Hey, it might even make my speedo more accurate seeing as it underreads by about 10%!

Oh err, I must have got the wrong end of the stick from the websites... Hagon's M63056 unit is £299 and has preload and combined rebound/comression adjustment, the Nitron NTBKS16S is £369 and has the same... Are these actually both 1-way (i.e. no separate rebound / compression controls)?

Is there someone on here who can source Nitron units for less than the website?

Yeah all single clicker... no separate rebound/comp control.

Penske do job properly and don't try and adjust rebound and comp with one clicker... it doesn't work properly. Comp ends up well squishy. They use one way valve in shaft and fixed comp bleed.

Single clicker... 8900E sport shock/nitron road/hagon OEM replacement thing
Double clicker... reservoir shock like penske 8981/8983, nitron track... hagon don't make... These have rebound and comp separate
Triple clicker... fancy one, sexy penske 8987, nitron race etc. These have rebound, and comp is split into high and low speed adjustments.

All have preload adjust.

Between those nitron is worth the extra... better quality. Hagon is crap. Steel body which looks poor quite quickly, valving is nasty. Hard comp, weak rebound, not sure spring is much better than stock. When you ask them what they do custom for weight of rider they don't know sh*t.

Nitron is nice shock, not great service from them though.

Penske wins on all counts except price (£474 for comparable emulsion/single clicker shock), I'd buy a used 8981/3/7 from GSXR or whatever and revalve to suit

My only beef with them is they are unhelpful if you want to play around yourself.
Obviously not a massive deal to just fire in but some of us see "oh you'd have to send it back to us, you can't do that yourself" as somewhere between a friendly challenge and a blood insult!!

Sarcasm says I bet even ohlins are reasonably helpful when you buying a couple of units a week!!

Penske OTOH have always been very forthcoming with advice and happy to sell parts.
