Oih, non deployment due to being a trainer trainer, as in I train others to teach how to use different systems and equipment, on the promotion front you are 100% spot on, due to my antics over the years I now have a Corps wide reputation for rascalish behavior that follows me unit to unit, thus lowering the prospects for promotion, one line in my report this years said "nonetheless he has earned my recommendation for promotion" which basically means everything before that was a character assassination.

Too true sometimes (look at Dads riding) but in the Military you have to know what you're doing as well as being able to teach it, because being a SME means you're the one they come to when there kit don't work.
