Just because two groups are right wing doesn't automatically mean they like or support each other.

Hmmmm... What gave me away?
![]() All joking aside I am not by any ideal against the notion of the European States, (and any others considered suitable ), having an EEC-alike agreement, somewhat like that which was proposed the only time the British electorate have had an opportunity to give their opinion, in 1973. Which is a long time for us not to be consulted, especially seeing as the proto-federal-superstate we now find ourselves inexorably being dragged into, is fundamentally not what the British public quite enthusiastically agreed to all that time ago. One can only wonder if our nation would have been quite so agreeable if the realities of the EU had been known then. Then again, if we hadn't voted 'yes' then, I wonder if we'd have had the despicable sight of the referendum simply being repeated until the answer the EU wanted was forthcoming. As happened in Ireland. EU; not big on democracy.

We don't even get the promised benefits.
Having to pay to use foreign cash machines and not being able to legally access services like TV from other places (sky's football prices!) |

to get around this you need a FairFx card (google it!), you can draw out money from just about any atm in the world and not get stung in the backside with charges and an appauling exchange rate. the downside is that you have to deposit money into the 'account' type thing and can't withdraw it as such. tis too difficult to explain in written words for me, but seriously check it out. i used mine all the while i traveled in sout east asia (the little of it that i actually got to go around!) and have since used it in europe as well.

There's a lot of stuff in here that is factually wrong.
A lot of what the EU has done, and is doing, is good. On the whole, the benefits we have had (not just economic) are greater, in my opinion, than the negative aspects of being part of the union. A break-up of the Eurozone now would be crippling, regardless of anyone's views, it would be; even if only for the reason that nobody knows exactly what would happen and that uncertainty would stunt any form of economic growth and probably throw Europe into a self perpetuating recession. (As each country, now lacking the free trade agreement, attempts to raise revenue by increasing import/export duty, they will drop, decreasing revenue, increasing cost of goods domestically etc). With regards to the EU being democratic...it has improved a lot. We do now get to vote for an MEP. The biggest issue with Europe is that the British media is so eurosceptic that it's no wonder that people hate it. However, ignorance is a very dangerous thing, especially if we have a referendum. |
