Paging Rictus and yc

I'm really surprised at that for wemoto tbh, they normally say at checkout if there is availability. Sorry if it's been **** advice

Epoxy can be used to very good effect (friend did 16k on the epoxy repair) prep the surface to clear the rust so it's fresh metal, degrease and dry. IIRC it's as thin as possible and use 1200 wet & dry or finer if you can.

Google it there is a thread on the interweb about it.

Yeah a bit of epoxy makes a decent bodge of little pits. Can last absolutely ages.

Cheers dude, didn't mean it to sound harsh! Thank you for helping, you didn't know. Speaking to Wemoto on the phone they had two suppliers. One in Italy one in Germany but for some reason the wait is in weeks not days if its out of stock. I would have waited but found ABE, and in the end its worked out for the better as I was a bit stumped when it came to removing the stanchion from the bottom of the fork and fitting the new one. So I would have had to have taken the Wemoto stanchion somewhere for someone to do it anyway.

This waiting for parts is just killing me!

Luckily there isn't any corrosion so i will degrease with something like methanol or similar, then apply as little epoxy as i can to the chip. Leave it to harden for a couple of hours then clean up the surface with strips of 1500 paper. Is it best to dry sand?

Also for the scores caused by dirt in the seals, will this cause oil leak once new seals are fitted? If so is it worth trying the epoxy method on these as well?

If they're very light visible scores but you can't really feel them the seal probably won't be affected. The polishing method below might even take them out.

Make sure the epoxy has completely cured, 24hr wouldn't hurt. then sand wet with some 800 or finer, wet with some silicone spray.

Easy to chuck them in the lathe and do this but obviously don't try it at 2000 rpm and cut straight through the chrome.

I also have some 2 part epoxy in the shed somewhere. It was first opened over a year ago and was used a couple of times. Will it still be 100% or should i just ride to screw fix now?

I'm just going to say, using epoxy can be effective I'm sure, but there's the potential to make it worse. Be very careful, some forks have been made good by just removing the high points and not filling in the lows, but that's going to depend entirely on the length of the defects. You're in the best position to assess those.
