Screwing more power out of an SV (or a ER-6 for that matter) is not cheap.
New Weiseco pistons and carillio rods are about £600 just to buy. Set of lumpy cams about £600 again, full system exhaust £800- £1000 Being an injected bike, you will need a Power Commander and a load of dyno time about another £600 That will gain you about 10 BHP There is a reason a JHS SV650 costs over £21k to buy and a KMR ER-6 about £20k. JHS are getting about 90 brake out the motor and KMR about 105 brake, and the engines are relaible but need some proper TLC to keep perfect

I leave the full fairings on for trackdays but take off indicators, mirrors, number plate etc. Seems too much of a faff taking the headlight and nosecone etc off, especially with no garage and next to no mechanical skills! Quote:
The pillion pegs havent been on for years. Rider could definitely lose a few pounds! He's working on that all the time. |

How about selling the SV and getting an Aprilia Tuono. You can get an 03 model for not many £££ these days. And they are oodles of fun plus they still have the V twin grunt!

The best of the best supertwin sv's will just crack the 140mph but yes, major surgery required.
(Ivan Lintin's bike did 141 mph thru the sulby speed trap) http://www.motoforum.net/index.php?showtopic=51560 |

Higher top speed doesn't always equal lower lap times.
Club racers in the U.S. ride up a class with their SV650s (Lightweight twins) and they often win the Heavyweight twins races. They always have finishers in the top 5. My SV650 will reach an indicated 135 mph with just a pipe and some re-jetting. I know club racers who were making 95 rwhp with their SV650s 13 years ago. I'd guess they easily went an actual 140 mph.
