With Ebike you can start a policy with one bike, and add another on when ever (just need to pay the difference if there is any) No admin fee either as you do it all online.

Just found this on the CAB website, see bottom of the first page: www.adviceguide.org.uk/c_motor_insurance.pdf

"If your vehicle appears to be uninsured, you will receive a letter from the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB). This letter will tell you that you are uninsured and warn you to either:
  • insure your vehicle or
  • ensure that your insurance company has correctly entered the correct insurance policy details on the MIB database (MID).

If your record does not appear on the MID, then you should contact your insurance company immediately to get the MID updated. You can check the MID for free at: www.askmid.com.

If you do not insure your vehicle within a specified time the DVLA will give you a fixed penalty. If you still fail to insure your vehicle it could be clamped, seized and destroyed or you could be taken to court. If you think that there has been an error you will be able to appeal to the DVLA, using their official complaints procedure.

You can find more information about what to do as a vehicle keeper on the Motor Insurers' Bureau website at stayinsured.askmid.com."

Looks like I should get a letter before any fine so this should give me a little time.......

So just making sure I get a policy with an insurer that accepts a second bike added on later without penalty is the key then, my current insurer is trying to screw me over...I assume the second bike is charged at a rate with the NCB taken into account too.....

Don't like ebike though but I assume it's down to the underwriter anyway, I shall have a ring around, and explain my situation, thanks!

They all do, Carole NAsh tried to screw me over when adding a new bike on then swapping the policy over. I cancelled that policy and went to Ebike.
I do believe the NCB is taken into account as it is on the same policy. I think their underwriter is Group Ama/Southern Rock. They were very good when I had to claim 2 years ago.

My dads insurance charges 2% of the value of any extra bikes on his policy.

Shop around for the multibike policy, then when you find the one you want see if they will let you add one bike at a time?
Insure the SMT then cancel in the cooling off period.
Is the Rocket from a dealer? Get the details and insure it before you get it iirc, even if it comes up, it's OK having more than one policy on a vehicle, but not to claim on more than one policy for that vehicle, so whoever it's with would have to have it covered, may get sticky if current owner has no form of insurance though as could bounce back to you.

It's a new bike yet to be registered and comes with free 7 day cover if I can make use of it, makes things a little bit trickier with insuring before I have it...

Some multi policies allow you to add the 2nd vehicle at a later date! Ring the company and explain then you should be golden to have the ktm insured and add the rocket 2-3 weeks later!
