You'll notice I didn't say whether my speed was mph or kph, as they use in Ireland.

Speed is only dangerous relative to hazards. On an empty and beautifully-surfaced motorway, the only possible hazards were animals running out into the road (which can be managed) or a tyre blowout/snapped chain. Backed right off to pass the few bits of traffic there were.

You hardly ever see any and it's such a straight and quiet motorway, you'd spot them a long way off while you're scanning for anything else which might pose a danger.

Obv you've got to be careful passing anything which could be an unmarked car - ie less than four years old, reasonable size, etc.

The main danger is car drivers taking the p*ss even more than normal due to the road being so quiet. As well as the usual texters, saw a white van man reading a newspaper and eating his sandwiches at the same time!
