Pointy frames don't tend to bend, they tend to crack on brace that goes across over V of cylinders.

If he T boned a car the impact would have gone through the steering head,possibly causing the stemhead tube to go out of shape--ie a bit oval.That can make the bike feel like you describe,similar to worn steering head bearings,and probably makes the frame scrap.
