Good video ..my favourite bits were the eye shot, moving sequences on the bike and from car and metal work
The bike looks awesome, I love the sound of the vtwin so could happily listen to the engine noise all through the video ![]()

Cool photo set, loving the work so far and the two tone paint looks fabulous.
I am waiting for my forks back from YC so that I can get my front end swap under way, but I hope that mine comes out looking even half as good as yours. |

Hey guys! Thanks a lot. There will be more mods soon and I dare say more practical ones. Anyhow. I've been such a lazy git I was supposed to upload some photos here as some people couldn't view it through bookface. I shall do that now.

Part 1
![]() This is how the exhaust ended up looking like after cutting it up and riveting back as a stubby. ------------------------------- ![]() ------------------------------ ![]() I bought rear hugger off of some german company, it was a bit of a dodgy fit so I had to re-measure and re-mark my drill points from suggested ones, stretch the hugger and it still ended up a bit iffy, especially looking down as the chain follows. -------------------------- ![]() Painting the fairings to create a two-colour scheme. I wanted the whole of the lower part of the bike to be as black as possible. Which then worked out when I bought a new fork pair. ![]() My brother and I work at the same place, he helped me out and painted the bits for me. ---------------------- ![]() The painted panel has already given it more attitude. ---------------------------- ![]() Rear hugger looking good too. It was put to a thorough test whilst going on a trip to Kent just few hours after being fitted. ------------------------------ ![]() Getting bits ready for new brake calipers so I'm not stuck without brakes when the new front end goes on and some angled pipe I bought to weld up a high level extension for the exhaust. ---------------------- ![]() Old front end is off, now it's a stunt bike! I knowww btw - that jacking up job is a right bodge up, feel free to slag me off, I work with what I have. ---------------------------- ![]() ![]() New front end on. (That's with the old leaking forks yet - they certainly looked neat, lesson learned though - do not be fooled by shiny looks) ----------------------- ![]() It looked more beautiful with each day... ------------------------------ ![]() -------------------------------- ![]() New tank pad from immortal graphiX ------------------------------- ![]() I've decided to go for a bellypan from powerbronze - I wasn't too happy when I found out how small that thing is, but it did look pretty nice and it did balance out the lack of fairings. Not enough though... ----------------------- ![]() Onto the exhaust extension. Ready to weld. (This was my first attempt welding stainless steel, and doing a tube weld in all honesty - I did use to weld bronze and steel for a year beforehand though so I knew roughly what I'm getting into...) -------------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() This is second attempt, first time round I've stuffed too much welding rod in places and made it way too uneven, also it decreased an ID inside on that section to the point where it could actually make a difference in efficiency I reckon. From 46mm ID to about 40... ------------------------- ![]() This is the final outcome, except for the lack of the hanger which I STILL haven't bloody fabricated... that is in the practial mods to come list... -------------------- Last edited by Liverknitter; 18-11-14 at 10:12 PM. Part 2
![]() -------------------------------- ![]() ![]() Brake one fit without any problem, I had to grind off few mm from the clutch perch for the lever to fit, nothing major. ----------------------------- Some more shots for admiration ![]() ![]() ![]() ------------------------------------- Time to make a job of the pointy tail light purchase. ![]() Trial fit ![]() ![]() ![]() Temporary connection just for a light check. ![]() ![]() This is basically how I left it looking until today. I didn't have any time and materials to make infills yet. I'm still considering a totally different tail tidy. ----------------------- ![]() I peeled off the old carbon fibre yoke cover which was a bit knackered and drilled for a bar handle bracket which annoyed the hell out of me, I took it as a template and fabricated my own aluminium cover. It's only a 3000grit light polish for now, I might blast it and give it a brushed look or mill it for a modern machine look... ![]() ![]() I used double ****ty tape to stick an old Daytona fork protector that I was given, just for an experiment - I quite liked how it fattened up the steering column so I left it like that. ------------------- ![]() A neat lookin evotech top yoke nut. ----------------------------- ![]() New forks on after a mare of the leak from old ones. I do prefer the black fork leg look, goes with the paint scheme. ----------------------------- ![]() Because I couldn't find full lower fairings for ages at that point I was close to deciding to street fighter the bike. --------------------------- ![]() Just a quick trial fit with XJR1300 headlamps, borrowed from my mate. They didn't look right at all, but I did like the idea of a naked SV... Maybe with twin exhaust pipes to make it more of a muscle bike? -------------------------- ![]() Naaaaah! Fully faired all the way... I am absolutely chuffed with how it all came together. ![]() ![]() That's it for now... In near future I plan to make a little cover plate for my front cylinder as I can't find a suitable fender extender for my Gixxer mudguard and my SV is suffering heavily from 'soggy spark plug syndrome'. Exhaust hanger bracket is yet to be fabricated. Some more cool but subtle stickers maybe. I was thinking of putting something around the outside of the wheel rims to bring them out a bit. Let me know if you see something interesting that would work with the bike, and please do not say a turbocharger. P.S. Just a photo of how the bike looked as I bought it - along with my first 'learner' bike, CBR125. ![]() Last edited by Liverknitter; 18-11-14 at 10:46 PM. |

It's a pleasure, especially when people are getting inspired to mod their own stuff. I always had loads of ideas on what I wanted to do, but it's other people who attempted similar stuff that really motivated me to go for it and try to make my own bike become priceless.
