I'd at least check out the water drainage chanles in the tank filler cap area.

Yeah upon a quick visual inspection of these the other day I couldn't see anything wrong. I have an experienced friend who I will be seeing soon on the bike so ill get him to check that out to make sure. I also would have thought the garage would have checked this at the time also while trying to fault find.

I am really dreading the next time I wash my bike, I like to clean things often but a little put off cleaning it now! No hose next time. Just a couple of buckets.

if your bike wont take a hose while cleaning then what chance do you have in the rain.

Mainly buckets because evidently I am still to learn which bits to avoid spraying directly. Until then buckets xd. I have learnt a lot and fast since I starting riding all of a few months back. Before then hadn't even payed much attention to bikes other than 'oooo looks shiny!'

On that note I would like to thank you guys for being so welcoming and helping me out with all the advice. I try my best to return the favour to other even more newbies than me
