I use a vacuum bleeder connected to the compressor.
It has never failed me. I can do a complete car brake fluid change in less than 20 minutes and new lines on a bike in about 5 minutes. One of the best bits of kit I ever bought.

I have loads of used once special tools (Thinking of steering tie rod removers, dedicated engine timing belt locking kits etc). But the vacuum bleeder is used annually. Well worth about the 20 quid it cost at the time.

What I would have liked to have used. I can see why now!

Done it anyway. Learnings?

Bleed nipples can seize, even slightly, and be a PITA. Thought I'd tightened it enough and squirted a stream of brake fluid when I tested lever firmness!! Argh!

Double check routing of lines before tightening banjo bolts, no snags and that the seemingly right way round line is indeed the right way round (told you I was a divvy).

Anyway, job done and brakes feel... exactly the same as before,,, which is good I guess... but I was expecting a little improvement in bite even if the feel is a little improved. Numpty comment now, they sure do look purdy tho'.

Many, many thanks for all your help and advice as ever people.

Ok, be methodical. Filling the lines from the bottom up makes perfect sense. Get to know the local veterinarian to source a syringe. Be prepared to reposition the master cylinder whilst bleeding.

Right. Time to get the old squander card out and order the parts. "I'll be back"
I will be passing Chelmsford tomorrow afternoon. More than happy to drop by. No need for syringe or anybody that malarkey. Just half litre of fluid, spanner, tube and something to catch fluid in. Should take about 40 minutes to do whole job. Send me a Pm if you need a hand.

Ignored that. Could have saved a shed load of money.

Cheers Viney!

You're very welcome to drop by and have a brew, kick the tyres of my bike and pronounce it a mobile Dignitas accessory!

I am better with a kettle than a tool kit for now.

A bit yee ha!

Have you seen what this stuff does to painted surfaces!

It could take off my "Tom Cruise" dental veneers!!

I have passed Chelmsford 4 times in the last 2 days, alas I've been on a mission to Ikea & no time to stop and help or have a cup of tea
