Same happened when I took Chris 8886's bike in for new tyres. I noticed some bits of black stuff on the ground after they'd put the wheel back on. Chris then mentioned the speedo wasn't working on the way home.

Thanks for the replies. Shop opens today again after the holidays so I'll give them a call but it's quite far away so if it's an easy fix I'd sooner do it myself. The rotor doesn't appear damaged and the magnets are all still there on the LHS so the wheel is in correctly. Can anyone explain to me where the sensor (that reads the magnets) on the fork is and how it is so easily damaged? Are they easy to find replacements for?

This happened to me after getting tyre replaced.
The fix for me was unfortunately not the speedo rotor, the entire speedo sensor had broken due to being stretched too far, and wires being damged internally. solution for me was a new speedo sensor unit. |
