Oh and I have joint membership for the mrs and me. And its the person that is covered and not the vehicle, so I can breakdown in anything or on anything and still get home

So...................the poll is still to be touched, but it seems like the AA has the advantage at the moment.

But I will wait for the rest of the World to wake up, log on, and do what ever it is that they do before I commit.

Cheers all............................

amongst others! I work for carole nash's breakdown assistance company Axa Assistance. When you make a call it goes through to an advisor who takes all the neccassary details and then passes them on to someone like me. My job is to then locate the nearest local operator (sometimes SOS, but not always) who can get to you the quickest.

A little insight for y'all into the world of breakdown

I have used GEM Recovery Its a breakdown insurance scheme that covers you as a member in any vehicle but you do have to pay up front then claim the money back I've used them about six times over the last 8 years lucky me eh! Never had any probs in claiming the money for a recovery back. See their website below. Not the quickest though as they generally have to callout a reasonably local recovery company but you can just use whichever recovery service you want if you know their phone number. Its a bit of a pain filling in claim forms but when its done they are usually quick to re-imburse you.

I buy my RAC cover with Tesco Clubcard points... I don't worry about the cost, coz (in theory) it doesn't cost me a penny (so to speak)

you left out the nci from motorcycle news!

i would never rely on the aa again!

three times i have called on their 'services' and each time they were no help! average waiting time was 4 hours!!!!! eachg time it was a man with a van and no trailer.

DONT USE THE AA

You are probably better off with something like GEM Recovery as unless its a simple fix i.e. you've got wet plugs, blown fuse or flat battery etc these guys can only do so much as most modern car / bike electronics etc are beyond roadside repair and require dealership diagnosis and or attention so you'll almost certainly require recovery to your chosen destination or Garage. The beauty of their service is you can ensure you get people who know about bikes and have the correct gear to recover you and your bike.
