dunno really mate, as i said i've had a couple of occasions where i think they could have maybe stopped me or certainly slowed me a bit quicker...maybe i'm not hard enough on them, too wary of locking either wheel (certainly dont fancy locking the front one ) ...only been riding 6 weeks so could be a case of trying to be too good too quick, riding maybe a bit above my ability. if that makes sense
I felt like that to when I first passed, just take some time and dont rush yourself, you'll be surprised how hard you can brake before you lock the front.. I've locked the back but never the front.

Have you adjusted the brake lever distance from the bar, that will change how it feels ?

Also go and find yourself a nice quiet bit of road, or a car park ride up to about 30mph and pull on the front brake as hard as you dare, make sure the surface is dry and hasnt got any gravel or anything on it though, do this a few times. You'll get a feel then for how hard you can brake.

Its good practice and it helped me build up my confidence

Braided hoses on the fronts and a decent set of pads, god knows why people change the back to braided hoses, my braking is @ a ratio of 95% - 5% front to back, who needs decent strong back brakes.

In wet use the back brake more, cause it hasn't been upgraded, so it's standard. That way I don't have any problems with the back locking up.

Once again, same on all bikes, with or without improvements. A back end slide is easier to control than a front end one .

I've never locked the back wheel dispite having a braded rear hose as well. Remember its not just the extra power but the extra feel you get too.

Oh I've locked up the front. Not a lot happens really. The bike will throw you off, the bike crashes, you hit the road, you end up in hospital. I did. No big deal. The SV has very good brakes IMHO, pity the rider wasn't as good

I went from a CB250 RSA to the SV and thought the brakes were great then had ago on a R1 and a ZX6R and have to say they are good stoppers but not the best.

They are positivly amazing compared to my old CG's Brakes,

DRUMS ALL ROUND!!

Now that gave me the experience for noticing hazards a LONG way away, i think changing down the gears helped me half my stopping distance they were that crap, im glad for the SV's stoppers, but the Honda Hornets are better, so i would put them as average.
