On a standard engine ridden normally(conservitively) I'd agree, however I use most of the performance most of the time, so expect it to wear, and it does. It was once standard, but not after I got hold of it.

Mine drinks oil. HAs done from new. But yours does seem excessive to say the least. Could be a split breather pipe, or if no leak now apprent, then a ring has gone.

Right - called up the dealer this morning as nobody had contacted me yet.
I was told that they've "topped up the oil & then ridden it for 50 miles. Checked the oil level after that & there had been no consumption"
They the "checked the plugs and it's not running rich or lean" (I KNOW that - I've just had it re-mapped & set up on a dyno!! )
"So you can collect it when you're ready!"

Great!

What a wonderful service I have received here, having not been offered a courtesy bike and having had to wait over a week for them to find time to have a look at my bike that they'd only just serviced (so in my mind, this is a re-repair). Then they fail to contact me to tell me what they've done & found or to tell me that I can collect my bike. They better not bloody well try and charge me for any oil or labour or I think I might just snap! I haven't ridden for well over two weeks now and I have been off work for most of that time & for most of it with no other form of transport... So I'm really REALLY fed up!

That's TWO local dealers who won't be used for servicing in the future. Think I'll do it myself from now on!

Not a bad plan dude. Anything's better than having to hitch a pillion with me to pick the bike up and nearly getting killed by tossers who don't indicate...then pulling away on the rear wheel as i vent my spleen

Hmmm!! What an ass he was! I think everybody was out to get us today, what with that and the TWO people pulling out on me from consecutive junctions at one roundabout!!

Still - had a great little blast and am in almost a post-coital state at the minute!!!!

Anyway Peeps!

I have my bike back now and all seems to be tickety-boo!
I'll keep an eye on the oil level very vigilantly now and the mechanic I spoke to said to bring it back in after a few hundred miles so they can have another quick look!

No explanation of what could have caused it to 'eat' so much oil but we'll see if it does it again!
