Yeah, can't see too many law firms being too keen on employing an ex-con. Still, I reckon at the very least it should be a permanent driving ban (as opposed to 2 years) and 6 months inside. Failing that, handcuff him to a metre long chain off the back of a car and go for a quick drive, dragging him on the floor behind would be a fair "eye for an eye" approach.

I really cannot fathom the mentality of hit and run drivers. Such a ****ty, selfish thing to do: You're basically more concerned about your freedom (to drive and possible liberty) over another (innocent) person's life.

I was recently involved in an accident (in my cage) and in spite of it being the other party's fault, my overriding concern was the wellbeing of the other person involved when they sustained an injury.

I wonder who called the ambulance, not the Volvo driver I assume.Leaving aside whose fault it was or the insurance licence implications,if you injure someone and you fail to take what reasonable steps you can to assist them you deserve to have the book thrown at you.For this reason alone this sentence was laughable. As for the arguement that being an educated, nice, middle class sort of guy prison would be a bit hard for him,and wouldnt help his careerI dont think Ill go there

Is that all the dingle (blackburn phrase for someone from Burnley) gets.

The system stinks. I was only reading my local paper last night, driver convicted of no licence, insurance = £65, It is far more cost effective not to have insurance and risk the possibility of getting caught. Should be a minimum £1000 for uninsured drivers as an insentive for them to get themselves sorted out.

Then at least the poor victims of their discraceful driving can at least make a proper claim rather than going against the motor insurerers bureau.

You met many law students, Warren?

The guy is just plain scum.
It's not bad enough that he would deliberately drive without insurance.
It's not bad enough that he would drive away from an accident that the report implies was his fault.
It's not bad enough that the car wasn't roadworthy.
It's not bad enough that he's not even got a license.
but he deliberately drove away from an accident where he had knocked somebody down and could hear them screaming.
yeah, i was a law student myself. . . dont mean to steriotype, but thats not the kind of thing i would expect from a law student. . . as most of them are decent people ive found.

its when they graduate, they change

you have to goto wonder about the justice system - man loses A FOOT , in fact some leg as well, and bloke gtes £300 fine and 2 months inside.

that is rubbish .
People panic in these situations, they hit someone when they shouldnt be driving, they just panic and floor it and the adrenaline takes over. Especially the teenagers

Ban all teenagers ! theres your answer !
