Tax Disc - Where do you put yours?

Ian's way of making a colour copy and keeping the original hidden seems good, cos then you're less likely to get a pull for not displaying, but you won't lose your original.

this sounds a good idea actually but what if a traffic warden sees it when your not with the bike, can they not tell that its a photocopy and do you anway for failure to display a valid disk?

incidentally mines bolted to the hugger in a nice anodised blue holder complete with 6 little allen bolts to stop the disk being nicked, personally if i was that way out id just rip the entire holder off but hey ho...

i carry mine in my wallet. i have been stopped twice without it on display and both times the officer was ok that it was not on display.

out of interest, has anyone actaully had their tax disc stolen off the bike? that's why i keep mine in my wallet, because i am under the impression that they are liable to be stolen.

it's never happened to me and is this just an urban myth?

had mine stolen 3 days after getting the bike

the tea-leaf simply unscrewed the holder and made off with it

I know it didn't fall off as it was there when I parked. These days I always take a pic with the digital camera, so I can save myself the £15 cost of getting a duplicate

Gah! What sort of dumb chav would steal someone else's tax disc!? How thick are these people?? That would hurt though, having to pay £15 for a duplicate when it only got nicked in the first place cos of the law that forced you to have it in a nickable place all the time...

I'd say its worse if you have a 125 and pay 15 quid for a disc and then have to pay 15 quid for a dup.

if they had a bigger allen key they would have only had to undo the one bolt.

You could, I was going to on mine but the copy is so good I showed about 10 people it and they couldn't tell the difference very easily. The only giveaway is the shiny part is a bit duller on the copy.
