Well, Im back :P

I cant stop grinning, and I just gave my 650 a pasting around the same test route I used

Z1000

That Z1000 is a brilliant piece of kit, its so smooth, i managed to stall it a couple of times as they dont have the bottom end torque of an SV. It seems to need 5000 rpm or above to make it sweet, although it will pull from 25 to 110 in top without breaking sweat. As it had only done 500 miles I was fairly gentle with the speed honest.

The strangest thing is that although there is no fairing except the headlamp cowl, there is absolutely no wind blast and because of there being no fairing when you are looking down, you only see the road, its brilliant. The wide upright bars make it ever so easy to ride in town.

It is certainly comfy with low pegs set correctly for me, the only fault I could find was trying to find the side stand when I stopped, that might be more to do with my shape though

SV1000S

Hardly any point describing this one :P except to say that I was impressed, There wasnt an issue with the brakes at all, I think the rear may have been a bit tired, but I hardly use the rear. This bike had done 5500 miles so I gave it a little bit more pez It certainly makes a difference having proper suspension, although it was set as is

Having never ridden an injected SV, I found it a bit lumpy on tickover or on take off from 1000 to 2500rpm.

Both bikes are slightly taller than my SV k2 but the SV is narrower so makes it easier for me to get on and off

I suppose I still need to make up my mind, but on first thoughts, I would go for a V Twin, I like the Z but its a 4 cylinder, With a lottery win it would be an easy decision, Ill have one of each please

On price there appears to be about £800 difference on list price with the K5 SV being the lowest.

I had a good test route of about 45 miles, with Dual Carriageway, city riding and some twistys

Will someone get me my Fazer 1000 to try?

I tried the Fazer 1000 and after much deliberation, about 8 seconds

My mind was made up earlier today, and subject to a phone call I am picking one of these up :P in July

Saw the sv1000s in that colour at my local dealer.......now that my baby has gone ( dammit I'am really still very ****ed but have to hide it at the mo) and thought hmmmm looks nice will have to give it a test ride.
But I also looked at the Z1000, but that depends on how much the insurers give me for my 750 never thought about the raptor will have to take a little peak
P.S I really really really want a 750 again but there is no way now

The SV1000's brakes are excellent - maybe not quite up to Gixxer standard but none-the-less still very very good and on a different plane to the SV650's.

They're the same calipers off the Y-K2 GSXR750s, just running on a smaller disc... Same MC too, so they shouldn't be far off GSXR performance. Then again, those aren't the best-regarded GSXR brakes ever.

The brakes were fine when I took it out, it was just a comment from another rider who had been out on the same SV1000

Either that or he rode it faster than I did but I doubt it.

Just goes to show, you shouldnt listen to everyone :P
