Ah, is that all they cost? I'd assumed given the complexity of the parts they'd be more. No point mucking about then really... Cheers mate.

Do us a favour Northwind, I've had exactly the same problem, fitted a new cable last night & while it's now fine, it's right at the end of the adjustment.
If you do fit the lifter thing, could you post whether or not this sorts it? I'm concerned that my clutch may be shagged! Cheers. |

Any joy with this?
I spoke to a Suzuki mechanic yesterday & he said he'd never seen this happen. Do you still have plenty of adjustment left on the screw? If not, it might signify that the bearing at the other end of the clutch rod has gone. If so you should hear a scraping / rattling from the right side of the engine when you pull the clutch in. I've got none of that going on so I'm stumped. |

Yup, the screw's still in its normal range. My new lifter's in the shop waiting for me to pick it up, I'll see if that helps before I worry about anything else. Since that's definately not right, I'll sort it out first before looking for other culprits.

Heh, just took off the old one and it's very obviously ****ed Don't know yet if it'll fix my problems but comparing the action with the new one, it's just ridiculous... The old one was notchy and incredibly stiff, and wobbly too. The sleeve that retains the bearings seems to have been the mainb problem, it's very worn and distorted and that's allowed most of the bearings to escape. Just goes to show what you can adapt to when it happens over a long period, the lever action's totally different now.

I think you'll notice a sizeable difference.
I'm surprised that the mechanic mentioned hadn't experienced this before, Suzuki have been using the same mechanism, (albeit in a few different forms), for a long time on various models of their bikes, the b*gg*r*d clutch lifter is really not unusual, I think I've replaced two SV ones this year.

That's it sorted- no slips, got my neutral back, less bad shifts, and loads of adjustment left in the cable as well. I'm having some difficulty adjusting to the lever as it should be though! I'm so used to it being one step away from completely knackered that it feels totally strange to me.
Thanks again Mr Squid, it'd have taken me ages to work that one out myself- probably after I'd had the clutch itself in bits, so it's much appreciated.

RIght, I'll take mine off tomorrow & look for damage. Nice one Northy, hopefully mine's a £25 fix too!
As for the mechanic, not good, if this is a common problem. There was me thinking that I'd finally found a good 'un. |

What was the exact part you ordered? I'm having the exact same problem with my k3.
