I think Ride dont like the SV1000SZ because of the extra price for basically a paint scheme. £6495 are they not?

I rode a K4 on a demo and was impressed, Im also a short **** :P

It is my next bike too, I very nearly ordered the Z but my bank manager put the block on it

Of course not, they've been test riding GSX-R1000K5s and Sprint STs, so I'm sure anything with less than 120bhp and a £9k price tag seems rubbish to them. I don't think they understand the concept of a middle weight budget bike - I sure as hell can't remember the last time I read a review of one.

I have not ridden one,but wherever I look I only hear good things about the SV1000.A Spanish guy I know who has owned just so many bikes, reckons it is by far the best all round bike he has ever had!
probably the best bike for buck 1000 out there.

I've done 23,000 miles on mine. Excellent for commuting, and keeps up with almost all bikes on the track, so its an excellent all rounder, and a lot cheaper than some of the bikes I was passing on the track today

Default blimey.........

Hey, there's nothing like an open question (s) to get some conversation going..........

I'd been looking around since the VFR8 (pre vtec) went down the road... those forest sheep have hard heads you know!!! I've alsways liked the lookof the SV, and like I say, being the son of a pie maker I thought the 1000 would be the way to go. So tommorrow I'm going for a test ride on this 600 mile 04 bike.... let you know what I think afterwards.

OK, so for you guys who use them for commuting, whats the mpg like??? All the bikes I've had previously have been +40mpg and about 130 - 170 miles a tank. What's the 1000 like, I hear the tank range is only about 100 miles before the dash lights up???

Also, any suggestions for insurance companies that look onthe bike varourabley????

Thanks for the info all.. I'll let you know how the test ride goes..... if play doesn't get stopped by monsoon's!!!!

As regards fuel consumption my figures are as follows :-

(Mileage given is when fuel light came on - NOT to empty!!)

Average (mixture of town / commuting / odd evenings out etc = 95 miles

Best (Motorway / fast 'A' roads / long period in top gear) = 165 miles

Worst ('Hooning' - back roads, twisties & straights etc) = 62 miles

These figures are for a SV 'N' with no performance tweaks except a pair of Micron race cans.

I asked exactly the same question on the sv1000 site (above) and got some sensible replies. The thread was called "650 to 1000???" and was in the General Discussion part - I don't know how to post a link to this thread I'm afraid.

Good hunting.

I've had my bike (Yoshi Box) remapped, and race cans on so I get about 95 mpg on my 65 mile daily commute which covers some motorway (fast)riding, duel carriageway, and London streets.

I also KNOW theres only 37 miles to be done on my bike once the light comes on (as people on the eurotour will remember).

Insurance, is pretty much down to your own circumstances, as many posts on here will show.

I think you should get your fuel mixture checked asap if you are getting 95 mpg.Running a bit lean I fear.
