Thanks for the information - certrainly seems to show something is wrong.

I felt the disk after a ride this afternoon and it was just warm. The calliper could have been sticking before but don't think it is now. Will keep monitoring this.

I am a little concerned that I might be doing it myself by letting my foot rest on the pedal. Don't think I have but am going to watch it.

24k for my original fronts

5k for my rear's

dont forget that the rear will wear twice as fast as the front.

i use the back quite a bit as i live in a city

You aren't constantly covering the rear brake all the time are you If so you may just be slightly applying the brake while you ride normally, hence the extreme wear

No, the rear will wear to the extent to which it's used, there is no direct proportional wear between the front and the rear (even taking in to account the rear only has two pads) as it's directly down to frequency of use and efficacy of technique and thus completely in the hands of the individual rider.

Most peeps being extremely front brake biased will wear the fronts far more quickly than the rear. Those that never use the rear amaze me, as it has definite advantages in certain situations and balances the bike rather nicely, though everyone's entitled to their own methods.

Admittedly I'm far more rear-biased than most people on here, but there again I'm not a great lover of using them anyway on the open road, preferring to look ahead and use the SV's engine breaking wherever reasonably possible - I mean I want to go faaaasssttt not keep stopping all the time .

This is what I'm wondering.

Have been making myself keep the ball of my foot on the foot rest today, which people say is better anyway.

I'm definatly back brake biased, so I am already on my third set after 12000 , the front however looks brand new. I am trying to even things out and start using my front more. I use engine breaking a lot too.
