not that im saying that the noise is not the forks topping out, but why don't you hear the noise when you pull a small wheelie or when the front lifts when you go over a big drop off etc?

road by my house has those bloody speed humps on it and that gives the springs a good testing but still no knock ere.

Is it not just the damper rod internals clonkign about? Thicker oil tends to pretty much dispense with it, which would make sense if that were the case...

if it's any consolaiton, GSXR Showas make the occasional clonk too It's a different clonk, but a clonk nonetheless.

Default clonk

Tomjones2,
When you wheelie, the fork probably doesn't drop away quite as quickly as a pothole, and so doesn't cause a top-out.
