I swear I tried to nod at the lettuce-green CB500 delivery guy who wizzed past me on the wrong side doing twice the speed limit... (140 km/h in a 70 km/h bit of road)...

Like Chronos I tend to nod at every one.
It appears to confuse the scooter riders though as they don't expect to be acknowledged

I'll nod at big bikes as long as they don't have shorts and t-shirts on, and I'll nod at smaller bikes as well. Never nod at harleys.

I usually nod at everyone outside the M25 (on a bike that is), except the occassional scooter boi as they probably would wonder what I was doing.
Ceri, I find the opposite to you except maybe on Sunday rides. A much higher percentage of the winter bikers I pass don't nod whereas in summer virtually all do. Maybe that's Essex for you.I blame it on the misted visors
