Looking at the state of the levers/handlebars I'm thinking he didn't ride into the ditch intentionally, I can't remember what circuit it was at, but I remember watching a sidecar race on TV many many years ago at a UK circuit, and one of the chairs went into a similar muddy ditch.

I suppose if you must ride into a muddy ditch on an SV, you should make sure it's a big one. Mine was only about 6 inches deep, complete waste of effort
