Saw them too Keith - saw a couple flying around yesterday and this morning, then all five came over at about 4:45.

We stood in the garden on our friend's table to get a better view - sent a shiver down my spine - a mixture of pride and all sorts of other emotions.

Ohhhhhh,

if only I could have heard that again, I still think I was born in the wrong era. To have been able to fly a Spitfire.

I can dream

For me it's another great sound of summer, living close to Duxford we're luckly enought to hear that wonderful sound most weekends. Never fails to send a shiver down my spine.

its hard to describe the feeling i got. the noise of the craft approaching, then right overhead at maximum volume and then to hear the noise die away, my words are not doing it justice, but i'm sure most of you know the sound

A couple of years ago when out for a ride we were lucky enough to see the stunning sight of a Lancaster flying overhead flanked by two Spitfires, one at each wingtip. It was the most incredible, awe-inspiring sight.

Last year we took my daughter to Duxford and were lucky enough to see a Spit up and flying...................the sound of that Merlin engine makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

A Lancaster went over our house a couple of years ago, quite low, on a Sunday afternoon while we were having a barbecue.

Oooooohh, the noise, abso-farkin-lutley wonderful

Even Mrs Squid, (not really a petrol head like me), said it sounded glorious.
