Yep there are other bikes which have calipers which fit the SV.....but the calipers they use are the same as the SV ones. Bandit 6, RF, GSX and a few others.

So the answer like it has been said before is no not a direct fit or yes if you are willing to make the correct adapters.

I have a master cylinder for a 4-pot setup, but I presume that the ‘ratio’ (amount of fluid pushed for given piston movement) would be all wrong if I try and use that with some 2pot?? Any thoughts on the master cylinder??
Yup, I put my Brembo 16x18 radial onto the standard calipers, much nicer. But then, those were well fettled calipers (well, they were scabby, but they worked )

Which master cylinder have you got there? About 3 or 4 times a year someone "upgrades" to the older GSXR m/cs on SV Rider and telsl everyone how great it is, not realising they're exactly the same

Do you know what bore it is? If it's a Nissin, it'll have it stamped on somewhere. Stock is 5/16. I think older R6 ones are much the same as all the other jap bikes of the era (ie, like the SV) but the newer ones come with a Brembo radial (though I think it's made under license)

Lots of good, cheap m/cs out there, it's just a question of finding one that a) works and b) is an upgrade. You might have to do a certain amount of mucking about with the switch, reservoir mounting, etc.

The R6 one is 14mm (0.55").

I presume the 5/16 you quoted is the m/cs ID in inches? (or is it stroke and bore?) If it is dia in inches, the stock (SV) ones you are refereing to are ~8mm (0.31")????

Or is that not what the numbers mean?

I am not sure I'd get enough pressure with the R6 one? I should get a 'solid' leaver mind!!

edit:

Just had a look at my SV ... it has 5/8 (might be a 6 ... i.e. 6/8, (it is a bit hard to tell)) stamped on it ...

You're right. 5/8 is what I meant to say There's more to it than that, you've got stroke, bore, bivot and leverage really, and efficiency. But bore is a good indicator it seems.

To be honest with you, I got really bored of the uncertainty and hassle of doing it cheap, and ended up getting a used Brembo, just for simplicity. Also, it was only £50

But what do the numbers mean?!?!? If it is ID in inches, that would make the SV one ~16mm?
