By my reckoning "The Trough" is actually the road heading West from Dunsop bridge that usually has the brew wagon on it, but as everyone has said excelent roads all round the area.

Default OOEERRRRRRR

wOw Yeah, like, did Bowland last year, i normally go up the A6 towards Lancaster and then head off over quernmore and head over to Clitheroe way, it is quite invigorating, its actually, during the week, quiet as a mouse, beautiful scenery and well worth stopping off for 1/2 hour rest and contemplate life!! especially if ya on ya own !! One of my favourite runs if im Billy-No-Mates

As per the map above, you really cant get too lost theres always a signpost round the next corner, take it easy, Pheasants, sheep and Deer are predominant species out to frighten the be-jeeeeeeeezus outta ya, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

cheers peeps,

ps - Jo, sorry was in Preston today on Bike, didnt have enough time to pop in, will defo catch up sooner rather than later !!

Or if you are comming up from the preston end of things, start off at Guys Court on the A6 Billsborrow, through Claughton, to Oakenclough, Dolphinholme, Quernmore to caton then drop down past Crook o Lune to go upto Devils at Kirby Lonsdale

Those are lovely long roads, very little traffic, few junctions, very fast and sod all coppers during the week.

Now riding country roads like these, watch well ahead, many can be narrow, little visabity round bends as they tend to have dry stone walls. so be safe and smile after you have done a few
I agree with Tim about the roads, I almost got taken out by a cage taking a 'racing line' round a corner round that area.

By the way, I found Trough of Bowland by accident. Follow signs for Beacon Fell and then you should start seeing signs for Trough of Bowland sometime soon, from what I remember. I ended up going for a great little ride all on me lonesome, definitely one to slow down & take in the scenery

Was out on the Trough just last weekend and can confirm the roads are ace. Been on it a few times now. Theres a couple of jumps that catch you out and some pretty bumpy bits too, but there are also lots of nice sweepy sections and well paved twisties that make up for it. Enjoy.
